Kaplan Advances to Australian Open Quad Wheelchair Semifinals

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s fourth-ranked player globally, Ahmet Kaplan, has progressed to the semifinal stage of the quad wheelchair division at the Australian Open, which opens the Grand Slam calendar for the year.

Competing in Melbourne on Thursday, Kaplan took on Brazil’s Leandro Pena in the quarterfinal round and claimed a straight-sets triumph. He prevailed 7-6, 6-2 following a demanding contest that lasted around 90 minutes.

Thanks to this result, Kaplan has earned a place in the semifinals, where he is set to challenge Dutch second seed Sam Schroder.
